Best Note-Taking App for Students and Professionals: Obsidian, Notion, or Apple Notes?

I am trying to revamp my productivity system and can't decide which note-taking app to commit to for the long term. I need something that works well for both academic studying and professional project management without feeling overly complicated. Between the markdown linking of Obsidian, the database power of Notion, and the sheer speed and simplicity of Apple Notes, which one should I choose?

Honestly, I started with Notion because of the databases, but it got way too slow for quick daily notes. I switched to Apple Notes for speed, but if you want long-term knowledge management without lock-in, Obsidian is unbeatable.

If you are doing any kind of heavy studying, Obsidian's backlinking is a game changer. It forces you to connect ideas rather than just piling them up. Plus, your files are just local markdown documents, so you actually own your data.
